A layman's question on CyberKnife

Hello All:

As someone seeking the best (well, the kindest I should say) treatment for my situation, I think this is the most important decision I'd ever have to make and my numbers offer me the opportunity to take my time (hopefully). I have been following the discussions on all the various treatment options with keen interest.

I have looked at surgery (don't like it), gone to see a proton doctor (8 weeks away from home and the insurance and personal costs) and read up traditional radiation (afraid of the carpet bombing) and seeds (scared of thes ethings in my prostrate). Yes of course, I'd do one of those if I don't have any options left.

The only thing I haven't looked at closely is Cyberknife (radiation).

Most of what I've gotten from this option is on this forum - basically that it's an untested form of treatment for PCa.

My question is: If it has successfully treated brain, pancreatic, neck etc cancers, why won't it treat cancer of the prostrate? Is the cancer in the prostrate any different from that in the neck besides location? Shouldn't the outcomes on other cancers be enough to infer that if it can be effective against other cancers that it should be with Pca?

I know these are very simplified questions but can any one throw some more light please?

Is there anyone here that has successfully been Cyberknifed?

Thanks!!!

Regards

KD
