Guest guest
Hi All, We had to take my Mom to a wound care clinic yesterday to have a pressure sore (that she's had for months) taken care of. We currently have hospice services for my Mom through Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY. They are amazing, and yesterday we found their wound care center to be equally as amazing. The head of the center, Dr. Alvarez, was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and took care of things quickly, efficiently, and explained so much to us. He ordered several things, one of them being physical therapy for my Mom (to help with the contracted muscles) so that she might be more comfortable. The nurses there were wonderful, too. Our Calvary nurse (she comes to the house twice a week) made all the arrangements for transportation, listened to all our concerns. The clinic was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. I can't say enough good things about these people.... when one of the nurses asked the doctor when a return visit should be scheduled for, he told her that the nurse that visits should be able to take care of this at home, so Mom doesn't have to go through the potentially traumatic process of being taken there and back again. He respected her dignity, and ours, too. Well, it's back to the world of work for me today... Hope you are all well, and I continue to send up prayers and good thoughts for all in this group, who fight the good fight every day, to make our loved ones lives a little bit easier ..
