Using Tools of Knowledge Management for Nursing Training in Manipur

Greetings!

I just like to feedback regarding using the Human Capacity Development approach

for Self Assessment and Knowledge Management for AIDS Competence among the

nursing community in the Manipur especially in the ART Centre of JN hospital at

Imphal, Manipur.

Last three days (28th- 30th Dec), I was using the Knowledge Management tools for

the Self Assessment during the 3 days Sensitization workshop on Nursing Care and

Management of PLWA. This workshop was sponsored by the Manipur State AIDS

Control Society and organized by the Nursing Association of JN hospital,

Manipur. I was the Facilitator during the workshop.

Every participant was very much encouraged of exercising and practicing the

Knowledge Management tool for the Self Assessment. " They (nurse) said that they

have done so many works for the AIDS people in home, community and hospital but

there were not realized of their capacity and their strength. After practicing

the Knowledge Management and Human Capacity Development tools, they realized of

their strength and capacity in care and management of PLHA in home and

hospital.'

Most of nurse expressed that " we- nurse don't want to see ourselves as AIDS or

Care giver Experts' but we like to learn each other and help each other.

1. And also nurses said that " in the ways of working; we like to work as teams

to solve the problems as we recognized AIDS Competence is importance during the

AIDS Care. If someone needs help, we like to share what we can " ( Expressed by

the Nurse Incharge –ART Centre)

2. " In the learning and sharing experiences: Nurses expressed that we are

willing to learn, share and apply what we can learn regularly, and seek people

with relevant experiences to help us in the AIDS Care and Management "

3. One Staff nurse express that There is need a group of people who can really

measure the changes among the Care giver and Nurse for the Self Assessment

because we like to work together on HIV/AIDS care and we can address and resolve

other challenges facing.

I myself as a Facilitator for Local response observed that there is an

importance of regular practicing the KM tool and HCD among the Care giver and

Nurse in the hospital and home.

Also, every 2 month Nurses request to organizing such type of KM and HCD

workshop.
