Guest guest Posted January 5, 2007 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 (1) Job Title: Clinical Trainer Organisation: International Training & Education Center on HIV (I-TECH) Location: Chennai, India with occasional travel within India to trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Some Saturdays may be required. Qualifications/Experience: Physician with MD (General Medicine, Chest Diseases, Dermatology/ Venerologist, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Pediatrician) Training or teaching experience and/or experience providing technical assistance to clinics or organizations Experience in treating patients with HIV (inpatient or outpatient settings) Other Skills/Knowledge: Strong grasp of HIV and related clinical issues, infection control and knowledge of current medical literature. Understanding of HIV care and treatment context and guidelines in India. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Clear written and verbal communicator. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team. Experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation. Curriculum development skills, with an emphasis on interactive, participatory learning methodologies. Strong cross-cultural communication skills, and ability to work with international partners. Sensitive to the socio-cultural, economic and medical needs of patients. Fluent written and oral English language required, with working knowledge of South Indian language (Tamil, Telugu) preferred. Responsibilities include: Work with the I-TECH Medical Director to conduct clinical mentoring to Fellows in the HIV Fellowship Programme, where up to 15 Fellows undergo an intensive one-year HIV training at the Government Hospital of Thoracic Medicine (morning duty and afternoon classroom and bedside discussions). Conduct bedside teaching to Fellows and other clinicians in India. Develop and facilitate engaging, interactive sessions doctors on HIV care and treatment. Develop clinical curriculum projects, including training curriculum, video-based projects, job aides, and other innovative clinical training tools. Offer on-site technical assistance to organizations conducting HIV training or HIV care and support Develop partnerships for future training activities in India in collaboration with Country Director and Medical Director. COMPENSATION: Commensurate with educational qualifications and experience. (2) Job Title : HIV/AIDS NURSE TRAINER POSITION Organisation: International Training & Education Center on HIV (I-TECH) Location: Chennai, India with occasional travel within India to trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9-5 (hours may be longer on days that trainings take place). Some Saturdays required with advance notice. Flextime negotiable for qualified applicants. Position will be housed at I-TECH Chennai, with some training related travel required. Minimum Qualifications/Experience: B.Sc. Nursing (M.Sc. Nursing desired) Teaching/training experience Curriculum development experience HIV/AIDS experience Fluency in English (knowledge of Tamil/Telugu/other high prevalence state languages highly desirable) Computer skills and familiarity with MSWord and PowerPoint Primary duties include the following: Program Development: In coordination with I-TECH Nursing Program Coordinator, Nurse Consultants, and other staff, develop Nursing Initiative that will include the expansion of a Continuing Education and Training program for GHTM nurses including advanced training in women’s HIV/AIDS health care Advise and support strategic issues/plans that involve nursing/clinical training and education in HIV/AIDS care Represent I-TECH at various planning and consultation meetings Develop plans to build relationships between hospital nursing care and community/home based care systems Establish I-TECH awareness and presence by networking with nursing/clinical associations such as schools of nursing, Indian Nursing Council (INC), local NGOs and other HIV/AIDS support organizations to build and strengthen relationships Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the India Country Director and I-TECH Nurse Consultants. Curriculum Development: Develop curriculum, training materials, and TOT modules, and adapt to other regional contexts, and update as needed Develop and provide clinical review of multidisciplinary educational materials and patient education materials Training: In coordination with I-TECH Nursing Program Coordinator, Nurse Consultants, and other staff, continue development of training program at GHTM to enhance and expand the role of nurses in multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS care and treatment Conduct in country trainings targeting nurses, community health workers, and other multidisciplinary staff Identify, screen and recruit nurses to participate in I-TECH local and regional training activities Train and monitor resource persons on the use of I-TECH curricula and on participatory training methods M & E: Work with I-TECH Program Manager and Nursing Activity Program Coordinator to assess and identify specific country/regional training and technical assistance needs for nurses Provide technical input to the M & E team, assisting in the development of needs assessment tools, as well as training evaluation tools. The HIV/AIDS Nurse Trainer will work in collaboration with the I-TECH nursing team which includes the Country Director, Nursing Program Coordinator, and Nurse Consultants. About I-TECH: The International Training and Education Center on HIV (I-TECH) is affiliated to the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, and the University of California in San Francisco, (UCSF). I-TECH in India was established in 2002, in collaboration with the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I-TECH promotes activities that increase human capacity for providing HIV/AIDS clinical care and support through the development of health care worker training systems that are locally-determined, optimally resourced, highly responsive and self-sustaining in countries and regions hardest hit by the AIDS epidemic.
