Re: No Guarantees

I am aware there are NO guarentees with ANY treatments. But the dr

was saying that his age plays a good part in his recovery and amount

of time for bladder control and erections. He did not say there would

be NO problems just less then a man in his 50's and up. And

and I would be happy with an erection after the catheter is removed

ASAP.

We have tried and experimented with other sexual activities..

(outercourse). And he was not getting our hopes up, just said he has

a better chance with his age. But he made NO guarentee. He was just

stating that in his years of experience that the younger the patient

the better the recovery to bladder control and erections (depending

on the placement of the cancer). The dr does not suspect that the

cancer is out of the gland. He does suspect there is more then the

biopsy shows. SO odds are in 's favour. And we do not have our

hopes up, we are just happy and have a sence of relief with the

surgery.

I can trust and feel relief with this dr because he has over 30 years

experience and does 200+ open prostectomy surgeries a year. Where as

the one we saw earlier that wanted us to do " active servaliance " had

only graduated in 2004. And he was only in his late 30's, no family,

and was acting like it was him with the cancer and really being pushy

with the AS.

Anyways bottom line. The dr made no guarentees just gave us a little

light along with making us aware of all the possible problems after

the surgery. We are prepaired to cross all roads as they come up,

TOGETHER.

Also I really do not know if it is good or bad to have penatrive sex

after 3 weeks. But I have had many major surgeries, including

ovaries removed this year with a 4 " cut horizontal. And because we

are like bunnies (says all our dr's) we had penatrive sex 2.5 weeks

after my surgery. Did it hurt or was it uncomfortable during or

after? Yes and Yes, but it was bareable. I would not incourage sex

unless wanted to try and felt he was ready just like we did

with my past surgeries. I am always told after surgery to have sex

when you feel ready (unless the Dr gives a spacific time).
