Guest guest
Hi Kami, I am taking Plaquenil also. I don't know really when it starts to work because I am taking it with Predisone. I believe that Alieve is the best to use for pain if you aren't on anything else for pain reliever. I know that my doctor said it may take 1 to 2 months to help with pain. Hope this helps a little. Tylenol is NOT cutting it and I have been taking a Vicodin at night to ease the pain. Not every night but in my opinion, the fact I need to take it AT ALL disturbs me. > > I am also start getting pain in my neck and upper spine..... I am wondering if this is EVER going to end!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Kami! I began taking Plaquenil a little over a year and a half ago. I first had to go have a retina exam to get a baseline evaluation done. My doctors require that I go every six months to have the retinas examed while taking the Plaquenil. It can take months to begin working effectively as it needs to build up in the body. I was only prescribed Plaquenil (with low dose pred for bad flares) for my first whole year and a half. We added Sulfasalazine awhile back. That took six months to build up in my system and then we needed to increase the dosage to make it better. It may seem like its not working at times, but I found out the hard way it really is doing its job! When I had to stop the sulfasalzine for 3 months due to illness, I could barely get out of bed, or stand. If i miss one day now, I feel a HUGE increase in pain. I thought that because I hurt everywhere everyday still, I wasn't getting better, but I learned really quickly that the medication was indeed working. Hope you find some relief soon:) --- ~ Kami ~ <kamilleon@...> wrote: > how will I know if it is working?
