Guest guest
My gynaecologist knows I use internet a lot for information. When I went to see her today for my first post-embo check up, this doctor asked me if I'd seen the Royal College of Gynaecologists' statement on the net. She says they list the following broad criteria for suitability for UAE. 1) the fibroids are symptomatic 2) patient care is managed by gynaecologist and radiologist together [i know there have been cases of women going straight from General Practitioner to IR without gyn. referral] 3) the only other treatment option is hysterectomy The third criteria might be problematic; I think there can be sound reasons for preferring UAE to myomectomy or to fibroid management with drugs even if one of those other treatment options is feasible. I welcome further info/comment from anyone with more in-depth knowledge of the RCOG recommendations
