(It was to the point where it was ruining my life, I was suicidal because of what it was doing to me). As for Splenda - I have checked it out and it's listed among other sweeteners that can be toxic to some, so I am really hesitant to try it. (I can't afford to have a 3-day migrane - I can't work or function when I have one.) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Guest guest
- Have you tried Stevia as a sweetener? It is an herb, not an artificial sweetener, so you may be able to use it without having the problems that you've had with artificial sweeteners. Stevia is available in some natural food stores and you can buy it online from www.stevitastevia.com. I've bought stevia there and a really good cocoa mix that is sweetened with stevia that I use to make cocoa and chocolate milk. I think you can call them and get samples either for free or for some small amount of money like $1.00 if you want to just try it. Good luck. Anne Re: New Member >Hmmm what are you eating now? Well, considering I am doing everything right and my sugars are not changing, I don't have much choice... For example, I get tired of drinking water all the time, so I add milk or fruit juice, but they both add so many carbs. >How about splenda for sweetner? I've done some research on Splenda and it is listed with Nutrasweet/Aspartame as one that is toxic to some people, so I am not willing to try it. (I get migranes from the aspartame, and I will NOT intentionally subject myself to that if I can help it.) I have a meeting with a dietician/nurse in the near future... Maybe I'll get some ideas there. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp **All email sent through this mail list is Copyrighted by the original author. Guest guest
<< on drugs before going on insulin. once you start you just can not stop (D>K>A) good luck. insulndazed@... >> I don't think that's correct, Steve...you can always stop insulin and start pills again. What do you think the problem would be? DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) isn't caused by stopping the insulin, it's caused by poor control and extremely high BGs...which isn't caused necessarily by stopping insulin. Not if you use something else instead (i.e. pills, exercise, diet, etc.) Vicki

Guest guest
Hi Vicki Well the VA took care of his medical needs and I am still getting by on insulin alone. He finally got a job 2 weeks ago (just in time to save the farm) but I have no clue as to when the insurance will kick in and if they will cover our diabetes. Some companies have a pre-existing clause. Just having the income helps but it will be a lean christmas for the grandkids this year. Guest guest
Welcome, . The newest sweetener, Splenda, is Sucralose, and is actually derived from real sugar. It has few carbs and you can bake with it. While I've heard of lots of headache problems with Nutrasweet (aspartame), I have heard of none with Splenda. You can now get it in the markets in a pale yellow box. I'm not a huge advocate of artificial sweeteners, but they do come in handy from time to time. Just having the income helps but it will be a lean christmas I got my diagnosis smack dab in the middle of being unemployed after having not one but TWO companies tank underneath me, so I understand the insurance issue. Here's the deal as I understand it -- it used to be that health insurance could have a pre-existing clause, which completely sucked of course. The law has been changed, and if you have had any insurance BEFORE that covered it, they have to cover it. You may have an up to six months waiting period before your coverage kicks in, but they can't deny coverage completely. YMMV of course. Kathy D. Guest guest
Hi Aimee, Welcome! You are doing a great job with your wieght loss! Keep up the good work and I'm sure you will reach goal. Lori in Wi New Member Good morning everyone! My name is Aimee, and I just joined your group last night. A little about myself: I'm 27 (going to be 28 this Saturday), married, and I don't have any children yet. I live in Ohio. I joined WW on July 2nd and have lost a little over 35 pounds so far. I'm hoping to make 50 pounds by Christmas, but if I don't, I'm not going to worry over it. The weight will still come off in January if I hit my personal goal or not. I look forward to getting to know everyone here, and thanks for letting me join your group. *hugs* Aimee 277.4/242/135 OP since 7/02/2001
