Guest guest
Hi Toni....I took Humira once along time ago and then a couple of years later, wanted to try it again. The preservative burned me like heck. It didn't just burn while injecting...it kept burning even after. It would be okay for a day and then the next day the burn came back for another 3 days continuously...it then caused a big purple red area and I couldn't even put pants on or a sheet over my leg. There was a bruise about 4inches around. I had to have the ceiling fan blowing on my leg all night..it hurt so bad. I called the dr and they said to take benadryl and the next time it would be fine. I did that and it wasn't as bad but still very painful and caused a red purplish dark hard area on my leg. I went off of it....cause even the benadryl wasn't going to help me. The one area on my leg got very hard and the purple site stayed with me for weeks. There was a sore that scabbed over and looked like it was going to heal and fall off...well, it didn't and it turned into a decubitis ulcer..or bedsore. I went to my pcp and she sent me to the wound care center where I had to get it cleaned out and pack it for about 1 1/2 months until the wound healed. There is now a crater where the humira injection was given and part of my muscle is gone. When I called the rheumy about it, they said..oh it always burns but it will go away...I said no way is it going away. I think they don't give much creedance to the idea that the humira burns and that sometimes it can keep burning and not stop. I was miserable. I'm on enbrel now and will only use the one that I have to mix myself since the preservative is what caused the problem for me. I'm having great results with enbrel. So, I can relate. a ************** Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living.
