Guest guest
Saturday was my husband Bob's 76th birthday. Saturday my husband Bob was transferred to a third different Rehab Center this year for rehab post second hip replacement surgery after the last SNF he was at for Rehab pulled his hip out of the socket 3 months post op and it had to be redone. Now he is in the care of another SNF. Discharged on Saturday when there is no Director of Nursing there and staff was not told anything about Bob. I stayed there all day yesterday. The PM RN came to the Nurses desk last night when I went there to ask about the chest x-ray results that they took at 2:00 PM because his oxygen was only 82 on the pulse ox on arrival there. That RN did not even know my husband was there as he was not on her list of patients. The CNA's finally came in when I pulled the call light at 6:30 PM to request they change him and do his peri care as he was not changed at all yet since leaving the hospital at 9:00 AM. Bob was flushed and started to run a low temp. The last ominous sign happened as I was going home last night on my way past the nurses station I heard a male disabled patient in a wheelchair with a tracheotomy ballihng out the RN for allowing him to sit on the toilet for an hour after he pulled the call light in the bathroom to get off. His words were, " There is no organization here on weekends and nobody does their job! " This SNF has a four star rating on the Medicare website. I cringed and felt like crying as I left the building. I fear for Bob's life and know that I cannot afford to private pay for a better place for him. Our Medical system is broken, especially the care of the elderly, disabled and the poor. I am feeling very bad about this. Pat M.
