Guest guest
Hi, Just reading your reply to Pam. It sounds like you have the severe kind like I have and I have been on other boards looking for others with severe RA so as not to scare the ones with mild and mooderate RA. We all have it differently but sometimes in talking to others about what's going on with you people can become fearful they will have it the same way. Some have severe RA but also respond to treatment. I have been on Orencia too and all of the others. The only thing I haven't been on is rituxan. Just saw a new rheumatologists who does not recommend this to her patients. She like Orencia, however. It didn't last long for me but I am having a lot of problems with pleural effusion. The last thoracentesis a liter of fluid was removed and tested. The pulmonologist mentioned esophagitis and fungal infection in the fluid tested. I wonder now if it was because of the Orencia from reading your post. The RA has never been controlled. The hands are always hot and achy. They look the worst as well. The hips are severely affected and is what's on my mind constantly only because like you it is difficult to walk. I do have a walker but it isn't much help so I just rather hop along without it. Until the lung thing started that is how I got around at work. Now I am on medical leave. I have now started looking into resurfacing for the hips. Not sure if I am a candidate but sure would like to try it if my insurance will pay for it. Well, take care. I may mention you at the pulmonologist visit and your reaction to the Orencia. I was never restarted on the Orencia, however. the doctor at the time said it was doing me more harm than good. blessings, Ebny --- In , sherry elkins <se54summers@...> wrote: > > Hey Pam,Glad to meet you.I don't know where Lexington is but I'll look it up.The leg brace was the same for me,but you may need it adjusted if it doesn't feel right.I had to take mine back a couple of times, before i got it right. I am 57 and have had RA since I was 38.Every time I read posts here its hard not to reply and say, thats what happened to me ,I've got all those symptoms ,my tests are all just the same!!! At this point in my life I am pretty much disabled.I can't walk very far but use a walker when I do have to go out. I have been on all first, second, and some third line treatments. I started Orencia several months ago,and it seemed hopeful, then I got a thrush infection from my mouth ,down my esophagus and into my stomache. So stopped,Orencia to get treatment for fungal infection:( Now that is cleared,I will try Orencia again. Like every body else here,I am always hopeful that some relief is just around the corner. Take care ,Sherry PS.
