Guest guest
I have become VERY good at coping with the holidays, but my methods are certainly not for everyone! I spoil myself, and always buy myself something I have been wanting whether it be a new piece of grooming equipment or just something for me. And I buy all my animals gifts and let them open them! I even found catnip scented wrapping paper for the cats last year.. It is JUST as much fun for me as having kids on Christmas AM without the noise! LOL Though I am usually alone on these days I make sure I have a special meal, though it certainly may not be traditional. As I couldn't find my leg of lamb for Thanksgiving, I will again hunt for one for Christmas this year. I may even splurge from my strict diet with a baked potato! I have my CD's on playing all day as I have a 60CD changer that is full of my favorite music. Last year I bought the cats a HUGE climbing tree that is now shot so maybe I will gt them another one this year. This is MY family gathering! Lots of catnip and home made Kahlua and bones for Bella. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
There see how you women cope no wonder us old men can't find a good women :-(. No just jokeing Val I love a good leg of lamb. But my wife hates it she is Polish and makes all kinds of Polish foods and bakes cookies and such all the things that are not good for me. But to see the Kids and Grand Kids so happy gets me though the holidays. When I was a kid we were lucky to get an orange and under ware from the Good Fellows Brothers. Am I old or what. Any way I find that seeing my family happy for the holidays is all I need. Val your great. Guest guest
Phil I have been told I am the weirdest person people ever knew. I can sit and do homebody things like crochet or work on the latest quilt I am making while listening to ACDC or Black Sabbath.. Now serious cooking requires Nickleback or or even Cracker! Do you even know who these are? Guest guest
Believe me, I am no drinker now! But I will have a shot glass toast as this is about 12 years old and it is home made and gets smoother every year! I haven't had any of it in about 2 years now, but i have lots of it left as I originally made 2 quarts of it! Now to figure out what to do with the rum I got for Xmas last year! I have this 'rule' in my head that I MUST buy a bottle of good malt whiskey every Christmas. Why? God knows and she wont be telling anyone, lol! It is just stuck in my head as one of those things that are an essential part of Christmas. So this year, out with the bottle of 'good' whiskey and I have changed my plan to now spending this money one ME (because I am worth it you understand) on a badly-needed haircut. Hi Phil How about having a think about what really makes YOU happy apart from seeing your family happy. Something just for YOU! Because I am like you in this respect, what makes everyone else happy makes me happy and I have come to realise that this attitude is not serving me well in the long-term, not helping me get well. I am learning, the hard way I might add, that I really have to start finding ways of putting myself first, of looking to my own needs. This is proving to be real hard work just even beginning to figure out what my own needs actually are because, like I say, all my life my only real need seems to have been to make everyone else happy. Then I am happy. But this is all having to change now and Christmas is proving a good practice ground for me. Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Moody Blues. As to the buying booze on Xmas.. OH MY I used to so that! I used to always buy booze for my " friends " for most occasions. I still have 23 beers in my fridge from when I moved here! One of my firends helped with one load of my things and had one beer when she was done. She has never come to visit me since. That was 4.5 years ago.
