Hi -- here (I'm co-owner of this LBD Caregivers Yahoo Group) and

I'm a LBD Local Support Group facilitator is Mass. The group started meeting in

2007 at Sherrill House in Jamaica Plain -- we've been meeting every month since

then. You're welcome to join us -- we meet every 2nd Thursday at 6 PM at

Sherrill House in JP. I will add you to my email list too (I can see your email

here b/c I'm co-owner of this group) -- b/c those who are unable to make a

meeting still get the 'after meeting notes' I send.

There are now 6 LBD Local Support Groups in Mass. (but JP is the closest one to

Boston -- the others meet in Braintree, Burlington, Shrewsbury, Stoughton and

the Berkshires.)

Look forward to meeting you.

terms with it. She lives independently in a " continuing care community " and can

still handle the normal activities of daily living, although I've recently

taken over her finances. She has been having many visual hallucinations which,

of course, she perceives as being real, and she has been telling her neighbors

about them. As a result, her neighbors have begun to " shun " her because they

don't know how to react to a person who sounds crazy. People no longer invite

her to dinner, or they decline her invitations, and she is becoming increasingly

lonely. She refuses to take Seroquel or Trazodone. The Alzheimer's Association

has support groups for AD caregivers, but I went to one and it seemed as if

nobody really understood the persistent hallucinations and the fact that, unlike

AD, LBD doesn't progress in neat, predictable stages. Anyway...does anyone know

of an LBD support group in the greater Boston area? Or is anyone interested in

starting one? From what I've been reading here (and in books about LBD), this

is going to be a long road and I am already incredibly stressed that my smart,

talented mother has been " disappearing. " It would really help to share with

people in person, maybe once a month or so.
