Guest guest
Hi Guys, I was on prednisone to help me get over bronchitis and sinusitus a couple of weeks ago. While I was on prednisone, life was wonderful - no pain, able to walk, do housework, exercise, and even lost weight. Now that I'm off prednisone, I hurt everywhere, feel bloated, and can't seem to lose weight. Is this normal and will it wear off? My appt with my Dr. isn't until May and this really is awful. If something doesn't get better soon, I'm afraid the family will mutiney! Any suggestions? Meg in MO
Guest guest
That seems about right...been on it for four years +. It really helps the arthritis but has horrible side effects. I think it will wear off slowly. Hang in there! Joy megsbyte <megsbyte@...> wrote: Hi Guys, I was on prednisone to help me get over bronchitis and sinusitus a couple of weeks ago. Guest guest
I know, I loved feeling good with prednisone! I had energy ! BUT after 3 years, I also had cataract surgery, and fell and broke the upper part of my leg and was told I have brittle bones from the prednisone. I thought I had weighed the consequences, but I didn't. The pain of surgery, 3 incisions on my upper leg, 1 week in the hospital and 5 weeks in rehab; a shattered knee and it is 6 months and the bones has not even started to heal!! I am not a baby, but every day when I put my feet on the floor in the AM I grab for my cane (hoping I can bend my fingers enough to hold it), and the jolt to my upper leg hurts. I have to be careful where I go, because I still cannot sit on a regular toilet and need to use the one I have with 2 arms. The bars in regular bathrooms or homes are not helpful and I have to have my husband go with me to help. So please, please, please think about pred, I know you were only on it for a short time, but it is an easy medication to be rx'd. And as you have said, it feels great. I don't mean to be melodramatic, but this is just the truth, and I really wish I knew.... Gentle Hugs & Prayers, Carol M. in CA @>~~~~ **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. I have no side affects, except a new zest for life and it feels if my joints have been lubricated and I have stamina and energy....except lately, it takes sores longer to heal, it seems. Guest guest
It's hard to guess what might happen to your weight or bloating after Methotrexate. The simple fact is that some of us MUST take it to have a reasonable life. My skin tears easily, so when I do anything, we have to do a full-body exam looking for blood and bruises. Yes, it takes lots longer to heal, too, but how bad does it have to be to refuse Prednisone? I think it was responsible for the muscles that broke a few months ago. The biceps in my left arm ripped away from the tendon at the elbow. Boy, did that hurt for a while! And it still does... In the first few years I took it, I gained about 20 pounds, but it went away again, so I'm just a little fluffier now.
