Guest guest
I haven't had a chance to right on here much - if at all, mostly because I'm just so busy taking care of my 82 year old LBD Dad. He needs help with all of his ADL's, and I'm guessing he'd be considered mid-stage on his good days, and late stage on his bad days. Although he always needs help with ambulating (bed to wheelchair, walker with assistance, toilet etc.) on his bad days we really have a hard time even getting him up out of the bed. He lives at home with my mom (also elderly with a bad back) and for many reasons which I won't go into now, we prefer to keep him there. I'm wondering what devices others have used to help lift patients in a home setting. I've been close to getting a Hoyer sit-to-stand lift, but on his bad days it's difficult to even get him sitting on the edge of the bed. My husband suggested simply cradling him in a sling may help for lifting, but I'm afraid that's not enough. I'm hoping someone has some other good tips. Like I said, I don't usually post because I'm simply too busy, but I'm one who has benefitted so much from reading others experiences on this board. Thank you so much. Debbie Ofstad - daughter of LBD Dad.
Guest guest
there is a Hoyer lift I've used that is exactly what you describe and is easy to use. You might look them up with Hoyer Lift Sling. If this link works for you the site has a wide variety and includes photos in use. Wishing you the best. http://www.spinlife.com/critpath/match.cfm?categoryID=
