Guest guest
I haven't posted much on this site, but have learned a great deal from all the other postings. I wanted to tell you that my Dad, who was 83 yrs old, passed away Monday evening about 8:30pm. He had completely quit eating the previous Friday and we had not been able to get any food or liquids down by mouth. We kept his mouth from drying out as much as possible with the sponge swabs, and placed oxygen on him. I'm thankful that he did not have to suffer longer, due to his diabetes. I have a feeling he died due to aspiration pneumonia and a possible kidney infection due to his decreased output of his kidneys. The dementia medications that helped him were Aricept, Namenda, Seraquil,Zoloft (antidepressant)and Klonapin. We had his visitation this evening and his funeral will be tomorrow afternoon. I probably will be looking in on the group from time to time to see if I might be able to assist someone else. Thank you for all of your posts that have helped my mother and myself be able to take adequate care of him. s, RN, daughter of Ralph, 83 yrs old, LBD for 6-7 years. Guest guest
: So sorry to learn of your father's death. I am glad that the LBD group has helped you and brought you some understanding and comfort. God Bless you all. Leona Leona: Caregiver for husband Ray, age 68, diagnosed 2/04 with Parkinson's Disease. Changed doctors, diagnosed 6/06 with LBD. Almost continual downhill slide no matter what drugs we try. 5/2/08 Ray was placed in Sunrise Nursing Home in Oswego, NY, 1 hour from home. So far, so good! Hardest thing I have ever done in my life, however. 3/19/09 transferred to Samaritan Keep NH in Watertown, NY closer to home. He passed peacefully at 5:18 am on April 14, 2009. I am handling it OK.
