Sir,

With reference to you e-mail sent by Meena Seshu to Dr. B. B. Rewari regarding

" Can NACO change guidelines on accepting test from outside source? " and our

telephonic talk on 8.3.2007 evening, I have taken quick reivew of availability

HIV testing kits at Civil Hospital, Sangli.

As per my telephonic discussion with Civil Surgeon, Sangli, he have enough stock

of 1st HIV Rapid Test Kits and today only he has received 64 kits each of IInd

and IIIrd rapid tests. As on today, there is no shortage of rapid HIV test kits

at Sangli.

Dear All,

I am extremely delighted to share the electronic interactions between the

NACO,SACSs and CSOs facilitated by the AIDS INDIA e-group, to ensure maximum

effectiveness in shortest possible time-especially the examples of ARV

availability in Sangli and earlier in Bihar.

The proactive role of Dr.Rewari is highly commendable. The operational

guidelines for ART centres as relea sed by the NACO (and to be put on website)

will go a long way in facilitating things at different levels.

Silmilar initiatives are expected in other components of the NACP including

activities like reduction of stigma and discrimination of PLWA which is

affecting service delivery and efforts like PPTCT interventions.

We all must put our whole hearted support to sustain this endeavour to clip the

" red tape " to make a real " red ribbon " out of it.

Best wishes,

Dr.Rajesh Gopal
