Guest guest
I have noticed my hips hurt now and then, esp when I have been walking " wrong " due to my feet hurting.... honestly I have had hip pain when I .... during sex (which is rare around here), I guess it is the positioning of the join where it is " opened " too much, it happens too when I squat down to get something and stay down too long, does that make sense? I hope it is not RA moving to other joints, just more positioning, since I am very inflexible amber **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home. Guest guest
Hi Jill! I haven't been diagnosed as long, or as on as many medications. I have taken Plaquenil for the past couple of years, and for 8 months have taken 3000mgs of sulfasalazine with that. I also have FMS in addition to the seronegative RA. I have bilateral joint effusions of both knees. I have been having a lot of pain in the hips though that affect sleeping and walking. --- Jill Watkins <jill.watkins@...> wrote: > Hi All- > > I have been dx'd with RA for 3 years. Guest guest
Hi Jill, I have been dx'd for 6 years although I have been symptomatic for most of my life. You need to let your rheumy know of these new areas of pain. I have just undergone a bone graft of the femur and total knee replace ment (March 11). My right hip began to really hurt about 2 years ago. It is believed the pain in my hips is caused by the uneven gait due to the severe effects on my knees. Rheumy and OS want to see if I have any improvement in hip area once I have rehabbed from the knee surgery. One thing I did find was if I sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees it takes alot of strain off my hips and helps relieve the discomfort there. --- In , " Jill Watkins " <jill.watkins@...> wrote: > > Hi All- > > I have been dx'd with RA for 3 years. Guest guest
Yes. Hip pain can exclusively be a result of RA or hip pain can come from the compensation you are doing because of feet/knee pain and/or deformity. One of the main reasons I am currently seeking knee replacement is because my hips started hurting. In 12 years they have never hurt before. I am knocked kneed so it was bound to effect my hips sooner or later. Shandi Jill Watkins <jill.watkins@...> wrote: Hi All- I have been dx'd with RA for 3 years. The Rituxan is doing an ok job of containing my RA but I also take it every 3-4 months instead of the longer 6 month does. It just wears off too quickly on me. It is normal to start with another area of pain after so many years? Thanks for any answers- I appreciate it. Jill
