Guest guest
I am so sorry you cut your self. I would guess it is the stress that maked you to tired. hope you get better soon! I also do a lot of quilting, and found out that I dont cut like I did in years past.it is hard for me to keep my arm still. I found a great rotary Cutter and ruler together I can place my hand on the ruler and it holds it still and the cutter moves along side the ruler. there is no way to cut your self with this and it is so easy to use. I found it at wal-mart for $30 and it is the best money I have spent. SueAnn From Texas > > Hi Gang, > I just wanted to share a problem I had Monday. Guest guest
So sorry to hear you cut yourself, sounds like something I would do. I cut myself, not once but twice! while chopping vegetables for Thanksgiving dinner. Thankfully not bad enough to need stitches, but because of the prednisone I bled all over the place and I was really embarrassed when my family had to help clean up after me. Luckily for me, they're all wonderfully understanding. Cooking is my big thing, too, so it hurt to realize that I've lost that much of my hands, to be unable to safely do something I've been doing routinely for years. Sue Ann is on the right track - I'm always looking for gadgets that will make life easier. My family keeps an eye out also, my daughter-in-law gave me a great Christmas present - a plastic " hook " like thing that opens cans with pull tabs. My daughter found a brush that's like an overgrown electric toothbrush that I can use for cleaning, different heads for dishes, grout, etc. Anything that lets me keep doing things safely! I'd love to find some that would help me get back to sewing, I so want to make clothes for my little granddaughters . . . I'll bet you make beautiful quilts, my Mom used to do that. They are so special! On Jan 24, 2008 7:48 AM, megsbyte <megsbyte@...> wrote: > > > > > > > Hi Gang, > I just wanted to share a problem I had Monday. Guest guest
I don't know if it would work for the precision type of cutting you need to do for quilting, but I have a Black and Decker cutter. I use it for fabric cutting, it's battery operated, very very fast. Mine came with two tips, one for general cutting and one with a flat scoop thing that lets me pick up one layer of fabric at a time if that's what I what to do. I could not sew with out it. Even the spring type sicssors hurt my hands anymore. The Black and Decker cutter is found in the hardware store or hardware depts. at the big box stores.
