Guest guest
After another visit to my RA doctor this month, my doctor did absolutely nothing. I told him the medication of salsalate and sulfazine was not helping and my pain is worse. Because my pain is worse in my left hand and arm than my right he now thinks that (even though I was positive for an RA factor in blood tests) I don't have RA. He said I would be eqaully hurting on both sides. He said I probably have a frozen shoulder and pinched nerves. I don't think so. He refered me to physical therapy and said he could send me to a pain specialist for drugs. First sounds like he really isn't listening to me. Because I am a " brittle " diabetic I think he is afraid of getting sued. He has been really conservative with medications. He asked what I was doing for pain right now. I told him that I use medical marijuana, (which is perscribed by an MD) He said he didn't like that. I really don't care. I am seeing my PCP next month and see if she can take over things. I am going to suggest antibiotic therapy. Does anyone know what the downside of tetracyline would be? Marla
Guest guest
My thoughts are this, you should find a doctor that listens. I have had simular problems and good RA docs are hard to find - you just have to move on. Pain is pain and if you aren't believed, then move on. Yes, he could have been afraid of whatever, I just went thru that, my own PCP told me that my RA doc got scared. Yes, they are freaking doctors but always remember, they PRACTICE medicine and don't know everything. And yes, a lot of doctors will not prescribe pain meds. Find a good RA doc that you feel comfortable with and THEN if he/she won't prescribe what you need for pain, then go to a pain mgmt clinic. Take a copy of your records and just be up front and honest. That, to me, is the best way I have found! Good luck to you!! D.
