CM asks collectors to elicit public opinion on HIV/AIDS

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao ON Saturday

said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has directed the district

collectors to elicit public opinion in their respective districts on

making HIV/AIDS tests mandatory before marriage.

Briefing newspersons, after a conference with the district collectors

here, Rao said the government was concerned over the high incidence

of HIV/AIDS cases in the state.

The Minister wanted the district collectors to create awareness among

the public on the benefits of registering the marriage.

He said the Chief Minister wanted the collectors to create an

awareness among the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families on the health

insurance scheme arogyasri.

The collectors informed Dr Reddy that the rural ambulance scheme had

generated good response among the people.
