Guest guest
On or about Sunday, November 09, 2003 11:06 PM [GMT+1=CET], PrincessKiara700@... <PrincessKiara700@...> sprinkled letters onto the page, saying: > hi everyone, > not sure if I asked this before.. Thanks > Robyn Hi, quite a few drugs such as anti-epileptics are good for reducing nerve inflammation. I was on neurontin whilst taking a break from carbamazepine which I take for chronic progressive inflammatory neuropathy. I didn't tolerate the neurontin too well but others do fine on it. Many drugs have 'side-effects' that have benefits other than what they are normally used for. Any worries should be taken up with your doctor. Regards, Kezzi. . . Guest guest
Okay.... She is calling in a prescription for Neurontin. Why do I have a feeling this is not going to help me with the problems I am having? ©x© Kami ©x©
Guest guest
As you saw in these replies, folks can react very differently to meds, even with the same diagnosis. Neurontin can be wonderful for many folks to deal with arthritic and musculoskeletal pain. You start off with a low dose, and then work up to a level that controls the pain. I never got to a high level, at all. I was on 100 mg twice a day, and it brought a bit of relief to my arthritic knees. Even at that level, I found myself thinking much more slowly, and even bumped a curb from slow reaction time. When I added another 100mg at night, I actually became hyperenergized, and suicidal - needless to say, I tapered off the med completely within a few days. Pain was better than insanity. (I did eventually see another doc and was put on Plaquenil, which for me brought some relief with time). The meds discussed on this group are often good, but we have to try them out, slowly and carefully, and give them a chance. I hope this is successful for you. > > Okay....
