I have been on Plaquenil for 4 months with little improvement. I still have

joint pain, esp in my fingers, and fatigue that is not improving. My doctor

started me on Minocycline this morning. I will also be on Plaquenil. I am so

hoping this works because I do not want to have to take MTX.

How long, on average, does it take the Minocycline to kick in? I know it is not

immediate and any information will be appreciated

Hi . I am also on Plaquenil and Minocycline. I am feeling

really good now, and it's been just over 6 months. I think it takes

about 6 months for the both of those drugs to start working through

your system. Are you taking any antiinflammatory as well? I also

took celebrex daily to start -- but I don't need it anymore.

I still have some stiffness, and some fatigue -- but it is much,

much better and I can do most everything I want to again. What dose

of minocycline are you taking? daily or pulsing? sometimes things

get a little worse before they get better on the antibiotics. I

would definitely stay on the minocin -- from what I have read online

it has wonderful success for folks for many years -- not many

rheumatologists use it.

Email me if you would like to talk more about this.
