How long does it usually take for predisone to work? I am getting very

anxious and jittery from it. I have anxiety and it seems to be making it worse.

I have Xanax, Valium, and Ativan. I currently take ativan and have been

weaning myself from it because I developed a tolerance for it. I can't take

anymore. I am currently tapered down to .25 twice a day. The withdrawal is awful

and the pred is just making it harder. I am just going to stop the pred. Would

that be ok if I have only taken it for 6 days? Meg

Meg, I get a little freaked out on high doses (10mg+) of prednisone too. Would

your dr/nurse be willing to call in a scrip for a benzodiazipine (Klonopin,

Ativan, Valium Xanax etc) until you get this flare under control?

Hi Meg!

I take 7mgs of xanax a day due to a panic and anxiety

disorder. My prednisone and one of my other

medications make me shaky even though I take this

dosage and 150mgs of Effexor. I just use deep

breathing and guided imagery..luckily my doctor has

only given me prednisone a couple of times because she

doesn't like to give it and is only given if

absolutely needed or as a last resort

Meg,

You really should call your internist and ask for help. We can't advise you

on what medications to start or stop.
