Guest guest
Marla, Welcome to the group. You will find it very helpful and supportive, I'm sure. I have type 2 diabetes, but am able to control it pretty well. If you're a brittle diabetic, you certainly should shy away from steroids, because they will raise blood sugars. I was on it for a few months while waiting for methotrexate to take effect, but I got off of it as soon as I could. Now I'm on Enbrel, and it works very well for me. Are you a brittle diabetic because you're type 1 and can't control your BG's well? Sue On Monday, February 25, 2008, at 11:56 AM, Marla wrote: > Hi my name is Marla and I am new here. Guest guest
I am a type 1 with many complications. I do control my BG but I am on high doses of insulin already. I am already leagally blind too, the doctor says steroids can make my eyesight worse too. marla Sue wrote: > > Marla, > > Welcome to the group. Guest guest
I'm so sorry, Marla. Diabetes can really do a lot of damage. I'm glad I have type 2 rather than type 1, and also glad that I can manage to control it pretty well. I give the credit to a diabetes online support group for educating me, the same as educates us here. If you'd like information on how to join, let me know. It's run by an endocrinologist, and has a lot of knowledgeable people on it. I've read that salsalate can lower BG's, so maybe it will have that effect on you. I tried it, but it gave me a stomach ache. Since I had already had a bleeding ulcer from Aleve, I thought that I'd better stop taking it. I now take arthritis-strength Tylenol, along with Enbrel, for my RA. They're working very well for me. Good luck to you! You have a lot on your plate.
