Guest guest
peanuts aren't like other nuts and tend to be higher in carbs..I think they are closer to beans.. I have never understood why peanut butter is legal on Atkins since IMHO it's kinda high for what you get... On the other hand, I eat walnuts, almonds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts and pecans and I am losing.. I guess it's one of those sensitivity things.... Guest guest
> peanuts aren't like other nuts and tend to be higher > in carbs..I think they are closer to beans.. I KNOW I've read something about this, and I've been tearing through all my books this morning, trying to find the quote. From what I remember, peanuts (the peanut oil IN them) goes rancid very quickly. AND the brown skin that covers them can get a mould that is also toxic. Some people are very sensitive to both of those things, and get very sick after eating them. I'm going to keep looking!! I KNOW I read it, because after the THIRD time I got really sick, and could no longer deny the fact that it WAS the peanuts that did it, I researched it. I'll let you know when I find it jinxie

They are poisonous in their raw form.
Guest guest
Peanuts and cashews are both legumes instead of nuts. They have slightly higher carb counts than regular nuts do and are more likely to be an intolerance food. Kirstie

Guest guest
They sell raw peanuts in the store - right along with the roasted in the shell. Isn't it cashews that are poisonous?
Guest guest
I stand corrected - cashews are actually nuts. There is a cashew fruit as well, but the nut is not contained within the fruit (so I think that means it's not actually a seed). I dunno... http://www.thenutfactory.com/kitchen/facts/facts-cashews.html Kirstie
Guest guest
Both peanuts and cashews are poisonous in the raw. Blech - who'd want to eat green ones, anyway???
