Guest guest
Hi - I'm also on Celebrex and have taken it off and on over the last few years. I am also taking it reluctantly, but it has really been the only thing that has helped me until now. I had taken Plaquenil for a few years with success and then developed ophthalmic problems so was taken off the Plaquenil. I have a number of other medical issues so my rheumy has not been more aggressive in my treatment. I was doing OK until a few months ago when I hit a really bad flare and could hardly get out of bed. I was put on Prednisone and currently take 10 mg a day plus 400 mg of Celebrex - still, I can't hold a fork until mid day. My hands are the worst; then my wrists, knees, elbows, etc. I give you a lot of credit, Sandy, if you can crochet!! I was cleaning the shower the other day and squeezed the trigger on the spray bottle - well, I saw stars! The small, every day tasks are becoming more painful every day. I'm preparing to file for permanent disability since I don't think I'll ever be able to work full time again and that upsets me a great deal. I enjoyed working, need the money and will go crazy at home! If the Celebrex is helping you, it's a hard decision to make. My rheumy feels that it's not an issue. My cardiologist, on the other hand, would prefer to see me off it and says at my age (55), I'm a prime candidate for a heart attack being a post-menopausal woman. Good luck, Dorothy _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of beacon348 Sent: Saturday, March 22, 2008 8:00 AM Subject: [ ] Hello new here Celebrex question Hello, I am new to group. I am 51 and have severe RA I am Humira.. Just got put on Celebrex because most of the other anit imflamatorys are not working or make me ill, is anyone out there on Celebrex? I am a bit leary of taking it, with all the warnings. I know all them have risks. I like to crochet, but have RA bad in my hands and wrists. So I only do crocheting when I can. Then I pay for it the next day. Thank you for the info and look forward to being a member of this group. Sandy

Guest guest
>> worst; then my wrists, knees, elbows, etc. > > > Dorothy, thank you for the update. I guess I should have asked my cardiologist too. I have some heart issues. mostly rhythm porblems. I also am post menopausal. I have asthma too. I have had about 3 of those flares all within the last year. my husband had to dress me. Got me to the doc and he gave me a depo medrol shot and on prednisone. That prenisone make me gain weight what about you.
