Guest guest Posted January 30, 2007 Report Share Posted January 30, 2007 Raise Voices against Anti-Democratic FCRA Bill 2006 Dear All As we know, the anti democratic government policies against Civil Society Organizations or NGOs, after FCMC, has taken up a new name 'The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Bill, 2006. The bill is not only a proposed barrier in the social action and development work of Voluntary organizations but also against the democratic space. Moreover, we should not forget that such changes would lead us to work under the pressure of government officers and ruling political parties and leaders, which may a cause of barrier not only to our work and the organization but the overall democratic development of the country. As you are aware about the process against the undemocratic bill is initiated by AFARM, VANI, NCAS, CNRI & STAPI to build up awareness and to strengthen the debate around the issues of Voluntary Organizations, now we are going to host a half day workshop at AFARM on 29th January, 2007, at 02: pm. FCR Bill – 2006 is already tabled to a committee and would get a parliament approval very soon, so this is an URGENT REQUEST to all the Civil Society workers / activist and pro democracy thinkers to raise unite voices against the draconian bill and also to build awareness and protests. The above-mentioned workshop will be more focused on issues related to our political stand, future strategies, and Action Plan against the bill. Please circulate this mail into your network of Civil Society Organizations and pro-democracy people to strengthen our campaign.
