Guest guest Posted February 26, 2012 Report Share Posted February 26, 2012 I remember my mother, in the earliest stage, ripping napkins, paper, tissues and paper towels into small pieces continually. I only saw her actually put it into her mouth on one occasion. It was her dinner napkin and she had bitten off a piece in the flash of a second, chewing away. I got it out of her mouth quickly. Afterward, she told me it was the worst tasting napkin she ever had! :-) She knew what it was...no idea why she had done it. Unless, it was like a young child who just puts things in their mouth out of curiosity. However, I don't think she ever had the tendency to taste her napkins in order to make a comparison... :-) This disease has many, many strange behaviors. If, in her mind, she was eating something she loved, yes...she would become very angry at its loss of something she enjoyed. This is so upsetting to me to hear she tries to do this, while I know things like this occur, does it mean she is hungry or is she just confused as to what a tissue is for?
