There are Portland meetings once per month. We meet at the Lloyd

Center Food Court. We usaully meet the 4th Wed of the month but

Thanksgiving is too close so I am going to move it up one week. I

will also move the Dec meeting up to the 3rd Wed. of the month due to

Christmas.

We will have it on Nov. 20, Lloyd Center Food Court 6-8 PM. I will

post an official notice to this and 2 other groups soon.

Glad to put in my 2 cents worth! Currently working for Acadian in the Offshore

Division and love it. Pay is good, benefits comparable and training facilities

are outstanding. Give it a try think you will find it beneficial. Rickie

Mark,

I may well do some training in CA this winter, but there's nothing set as

of now. You must be looking at dates from this year, not next year.

I'll keep you posted.

Mark,

I don't know if these messages are being generated automatically or what.

You sent exactly the same message on July 31 (message 3525), which I

answered in message 3527 on the same day, as follows:

Mark,

I think I've already approved you for list membership. Just go to

and click on the Files link on the

left of the page. You'll find a folder there called Assessment Files (or

something of the like), which includes instructions on how to download and

install the forms and the forms themselves. They really cost $10,000, but you

can sneak them away from me without paying at this site--just kidding; they

really are free.

Time is a function of how fast you can do hookups. There is also in the Files

section a description of the assessment categories and a procedure for

performing the assessment. It takes me (and most folks who get fairly

experienced) about 45 minutes to complete gathering the data and reviewing it

with the client (which is integrated into data gathering). It takes less than a

minute to bring the data from BrainMaster output into the assessment forms as

you saw them on the download. It takes me usually about 10 minutes to go

through the data and produce my training plan (also available for download--yes,

it's free also). So for most clients, unless I run into a very interested or

very obsessive one, where I might spend a little more time explaining

(re-explaining) what we are seeing on the BrainMaster graphs, I have the entire

process from sitting down in the chair to having a set of protocols to test

completed in an hour or less.

BTW, though others do, I don't necessarily review the training plan or

assessment with the client. I focus with him/her on the goals they have for

training and how to report results.

There are people who use the system without any training at all, and some seem

to do pretty well with it. Obviously I think there is a benefit to taking the

training (Level 2) because the approach to the brain and to its activation

patterns is not what most of us have been taught in fifty other workshops,

presentations and readings. Also the approach to the client is quite different

(e.g. I usually have clients preparing their own leads, pointing out their own

sites to me, etc. within a session or two).

The price for the DVD's will probably be close to the price of the workshops

themselves, since they will carry about the same number of CE credits and

contain the same material. The upside of the DVD's will be that they can be

viewed/reviewed at the user's own pace, and they can be accessed to recall

material at a much later date. The downside is that, though they do include (at

least the one we are working on at present) hands-on practice, there is no

trainer there to actually verify and coach it or to answer questions directly.

Pete

-- Re: training

Do I understand you correctly that all of your stuff is free to download?

I

guess training would be a must. How much are you going to charge for the

DVD

training?

I must ask ... approximately how long does it take to conduct an

evaluation?

This, of course, would determine what you would charge for it. It seems

time-consuming, but I guess it is worth it. Could you separate it out, if

possible, in terms of how long it takes to record the data, make the

calculations, fill out the necessary forms, select training protocols,

etc?

Thanks again,

Mark

I am thinking about the training in Lansing Oct 25, 26.

1. Can you tell me where it is being held: address and zip for a mapquest from my house? 108 Wedgewood Dr. Charlotte, MI 48813 Easy to find off Hwy. 69. I'll send you directions if you decide to attend, no one has ever gotten lost (it is that easy)

2.the times start and finish? Start on Sat. 10:00 a.m. until 5-6 depending on brain fog of participants. A lot to learn... Sunday 9:00 am until 4-5 depending again on participants. (I'm easy)

3. What will actually be taught, You will get a manual that will be your starting point and we will begin to learn from this information so note taking will be minimal on your part.

As far as what you learn:

Two possible protocol options for new clients.

An introduction of the QX, machine start up and items you will want or need for your business. Do's, Don'ts and Warnings, Preparation, Computer w/connections, Virtual, Harnesses, Printer Cable, Switch, Lights and Computer Problems, and Program installation.

Opening of Clasp and main page information.

Demographics client installation/modification/deletion. What is needed and what is not.

Calibrations, computer connection with client.

The Shaping function/reward system.

Main therapy's that the machine may choose, and what to do with them and why. Allergy Therapy, Auto Meridian, Auto Scalar, Auto Frequency, Auto Trivector & DNA, Hololinguistics, DNA Tingle, Auto Color, Auto Varhope

Optional therapies and leaning some of the basics (all those listed in the above mentioned protocols) Incl. Biofeedback

Ending procedures to finish up a session professionally.

what would I expect to know at the end of the 2nd day? Think that will get you started?

4. What is the cost of a treatment with you? Unfortunately, while training I do not have free time to do sessions.

5.Any cheap lodging closeby? Yes? What's cheep? Super 8 Hotel is @ $62.00 per night 517-543-8288, Holiday Inn Express $76.00 per night @ 517-541-5000, or Comfort Inn @ $85.00 per night 517-543-7307, the latter two are new and all are close by (Comfort Inn is closest) both are by the room not per person. Thanks

Please be sure to RSVP no later than the Monday before trainings to confirm. Payment at the training is by cash or check and until the rate is changed by Quantum-Life in January will be $100.00 per day for basic training. Later training dates are on the web site at www.quantum-life.com

Gill,

I've been working for a while on a DVD of Level 1 training, but it turns out to be a bigger job than it sounds. I will be in Europe for much of March of this year, and and I will be wandering around between workshops during the 8th to the 16th or so. I'm open to getting together with people who would like to set up a training or an individual consultation.

Pete

Has the Level 1, 2 & 3 training ever been produced on a cd rom for those of us who can't get to training sessions? I know Pete was looking into it some time ago and I would be very interested.

I have between March 8 and March 17 free between the workshops in Switzerland. I'm planning to do some traveling around Europe, so England is a good possibility. At this point I'm just trying to find out if there is interest anywhere. Then we'll plan the trip based on that.

Letisha-

Welcome to the group.

It is true that the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

will allow anyone over 18 years of age and without a criminal record

to take the exam, regardless of whether or not the person has ever

set foot in a pharmacy or completed any pharm tech training program.

HOWEVER--passing the national certification exam does not guarantee

you will be allowed to practice as a technician---certain states

(Washington state for example) do not recognize the CPhT (national

certification) status.

Different states have different training/education requirements for

pharmacy technicians. You'll need to check with your state's Board of

Pharmacy. Most are available online.

Some retail pharmacies have training programs and may consider hiring

someone without pharmacy experience, but you'd be hard pressed to get

into the hospital setting without education, training, or experience.

What degree are you working on? Perhaps there might be some 'cross

over' courses that would better your chances of getting hired---

chemistry, biology, anatomy/physiology, microbiology, pharmacology.

Business classes may be applicable in the retail setting.

I understand you don't want to spend a lot of time on schooling, but

you must understand that being a tech is a lot more than counting by

fives and running a cash register. From the moment a tech walks into

a pharmacy for the first time its about learning *all the time*. We

are dealing with people lives everyday and an error can prove fatal.

In addition to counting, pouring, licking, sticking, inventory

management, third party billing, and other 'operational activities'

you need to be able to identify potential " red flags " in

prescriptions---too high of dose, wrong drug class for diagnosis,

wrong dispensing instructions, the patient has an allergy to drug

class prescribed---the list goes on... Yes,the pharmacist has the

ultimate responsibility to make sure the patient is getting the right

drug for the disease state/condition, but its unrealistic and

dangerous to expect the pharmacist to catch every single error. A

knowledgeable tech is worth their weight in gold...unfortunately we

aren't paid as such.

Believe it or not, I only had one foot on my soapbox tonight.

Being a tech can be a very rewarding experience...you might find you

like it better than the degree you are studying for.

Take care and good luck.

Thanks for the info. I am working on a history degree. Originally,

a few years ago, I started out in nursing, but realized it wasn't

quite for me a little over a semester from graduating. So I've had

some experience with drugs, calculations, etc. Even though that was

awhile back, would it help some?

Hello,

I am sure you have already received or will receive many responses regarding

your question. But here is my response. There are some people who do not do

any program in pharmacy and then take the exam. I would definetly not recommend

this at all. You see, I started a Pharmacy Assistant program 5 years ago but

had to stop because I was pregnant. I then had 2 children realized that I

wanted to be in pharmacy. However, with working and 2 young kids, I decided to

do a correspondence program in Pharmacy Assistant. While doing my work, I got a

job in a pharmacy, then moved to another. Even while doing my course work and

working in the pharmacy, there still was I didn't know and didn't feel

comfortable doing. I then had my third child and finished off my program.

After finishing, I did the PTCB exam and passed. I will be going back to work

soon, but I still realize that there is alot I am not sure about and have been

studying all my PTCB study guides (I have 2), my pharmacology

text, my calculations text, and I just purchased a basic pharmacology and

calculations book to also go over so I make sure I know as much as possible.

This is a field where even one little mistake can be huge for the patient and I

don't want to be the cause of something like that.

So, even with my program and all my studying I continue to do, I know that I

don't know everything, so I definetly don't recommend just doing the exam

because you need the schooling so you know as much as possible.

There are some pharmacies that will hire someone without training or education

and some of the people they train have become very good Techs, but with all the

talk of needing the education first, it will probably be harder to gain

employment without training or education.

Just my thoughts and hope it helps.

Sorry to disillusion you but as a new start this is highly

improbable; there are lots of people out there with the right bits of

paper at the moment

Once you are in with a company then getting your refresher paid for

is much more likely though: but don't count on it.

No cynicism, just realism!

I'm sure that if has A/E or other acute experience and gets the

offshore medic ticket he will do well, but it is a gamble, as we all

know.

I'll contact you offline to make arrangements to met up.

Ed,

If you can find sites, do good hookups, recognize artifact and understand the

concepts of monopolar and bipolar montages and the other " language " of NF, you

don't need Level 1.

We've done a number of workshops in Michigan, but I don't know what, if

anything, is scheduled there for the near future.
