Guest guest
Does carb restriction help hyperthyroid, does anyone have any info on Atkinshelping Graves disease? Thank you, Hi --As one who has had Graves Disease, as have three generations in my family and several of my siblings, I think I can speak with some knowlege. This can be a very serious condition and I hope you are under the care of a physician as BP can go very high and potentially cause a stroke. Graves disease is the thyroid going completely out of control and literally running you to death--you will likely lose a lot of weight including muscle, have night sweats, a ravenous appetite, muscle weakness and a pounding heart. I can think of no way that Atkins would in anyway affect Graves disease since it primarily addresses insulin issues and this involves the thyroid and your basal metabolic rate. I don't want to scare you but if you are not seeing a physician please do so. When I had my episode with Graves disease, I was given I-131 to destroy the thyroid and then eventually went on thyroid meds. I don't know if that is the treatment of choice anymore--things change quickly in the medical community. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have if you want to contact me privately.
