ISSN is the World's Best Resource for Sports Nutrition and Supplement

Information

Colorado Springs, CO. - On March 23, 2011, The NCAA released new and

updated guidelines for all those involved with Collegiate Sports. The

NCAA has revised the guidelines of the mandatory collegiate athlete drug

testing program to mandate that all University Athletic Programs have a

point person for any and all questions as related to the NCAA banned

substances list. The importance of this is that many athletes utilize

dietary supplements and products that in the past (prior to the FDA

mandated GMP enforcement) left some athletes at potential risk for

failing a test.

Division I schools must identify a specific person to serve as an

educated resource on the issue, and educate all staffers on the topic.

Failure to follow the policy would result in an institutional violation.

This violation by any University could be costly in this era of March

Madness, Bowl games and the Collegiate World Series.

Many in sports nutrition and in the academic research world utilize the

expertise of The International Society of Sports Nutrition

(www.theissn.org <http://www.theissn.org> ) and its National Library of

Medicine Indexed scientific journal, the Journal of the International

Society of Sports Nutrition (www.jissn.com <http://www.jissn.com> ) as a

resource for staying up-to-date with respect to the latest regarding

sports nutrition science.

The ISSN offers itself to any and all Universities or the Media that may

have any questions on how to choose a designated university expert, what

the NCAA guidelines are with respect to nutritional products and how to

tell a responsible nutrition manufacturer from a potential fly-by-night

operation.
