Guest guest
The milk banks are located primarily in children’s specialty hospitals. The banked milk goes primarily to NICU babies because other babies are sent home shortly after birth. The problem is that not all hospitals have banks due to their cost—screening the donors, transporting and storing the milk, etc. Ro From: Vajda Sent: Monday, March 07, 2011 7:18 PM To: rd-usa Subject: Re: Re: Breast milk ice cream http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19660997 [setting up a donor milk bank within a neonatal unit]. I think that is what they call it. The moms do have to have regular blood tests to screen for diseases such as HIV and hepatitis that can be spread through breast milk. I am not sure what babies are eligible to receive the donated milk. If it is just high risk babies or any baby can receive it. > > > > > > > However most mammals don't make it that easy for others to access.
