Hello! I have had joint knee effusions diagnosed for

the past few years. I am now 36. I've had the joints

aspirated quite a few times, and then given a shot of

cortisone to help the inflammation from coming back.

However, my doctors will only give the cortisone shot

once every six months. They can sometimes aspirate

them to relieve the pressure. I use a cane for

walking, and also have knee braces for each leg. They

are quite large, the go up midthigh and then past the

knee. I'm not sure if I am supposed to wear them

everyday, but I usually don't as they are so bulky. I

take Plaquenil, Sulfasalazine, and an NSAID for the

arthritis. My knees are always swollen somewhat and

very very stiff. Yet when in a really bad flare, they

are 100 times worse.
