Guest guest
Hi , If it's just that he doesn't like cow's milk, he might be willing to try unsweetened almond or soy milk. Other ideas are regular or low sodium vegetable juices, citrus or other unsweetened flavored seltzers or Crystal Light (if non-nutritive sweeteners are OK). Lois Moss-Barnwell, MS, RD, LDN, CDE Diet Rx, Ltd beverage for hypertriglyceridemia I need a caloric beverage for a patient with hypertriglyceridemia. He does not like dairy. Any suggestions? Guest guest
He needs to gain weight so I am looking for an additional source of calories. He unfortunately will not drink another of the dairy alternatives you suggested. Any other thoughts? Guest guest
what about some of the glucerna or boost diabetic products out there, low sugar ice cream shakes made with 1/2 and 1/2 or cream instead of milk, would he drink milk or half and half if flavored with sugar free Nestle's Quik? Unjury pro powder can be made with just water and is a good source of pro cals. Would some of the V-8 splash type drinks be lower carb?? Just what comes to mind quickly here. ________________________________ From: rd-usa [mailto:rd-usa ] On Behalf Of Mazarin Sent: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 11:00 AM To: rd-usa Subject: RE: beverage for hypertriglyceridemia He needs to gain weight so I am looking for an additional source of calories. Guest guest
He has changed his diet as advised and triglycerides have been reduced dramatically, but need to gain weight. Liberalized mono's are insufficient calorically. He appears to have a high metabolic rate and is a letter carrier, walking 6 hours a day. Yes, he drinks water now and the only place available to add additional calories.
