Guest guest
Some people see the LEAP diet in the same light. I think both have value. Having done the full elimination diet route. Jackie Chase RD Dillingham AK > I don't think much of Elaine's explanation of the SCD and why it works (no research and quite illogical, IMHO), and yet I've seen quite a few people on the diet who report huge improvements in colitis/crohn's symptoms. Many have tested negative for Celiac. Essentially since they're on it, and determined to stay on it, their docs have referred them to me to try to make it as balanced as possible, and I do my best to help within those parameters. > The strange thing is that many of those folks return to eating grains and report a relapse of symptoms. Some were incapacitated with pain prior to the diet. > > Granted, I have never gone out of my way to recommend the diet to anyone, and yet I can't help wondering why so many people do well with it. I would probably recommend giving it a try if every other avenue was not helpful. I believe Crohn's/colitis foundation is in the process of researching it and I look forward to their thoughts. > > Close cousin of SCD is GAPS, which I see as even more illogical, since they recommend it for kids--oy! > > Cheryl , MPH, RD, LD > Whole Health > 3345 Duke St > andria, VA 22314 > www.harriswholehealth.com > > fax: > Follow me on Twitter @cherylharrisrd > >

The author proposes a connection btw brain health and gut health which I also believe has been greatly overlooked by doctors, nutritionists .... > I don't think much of Elaine's explanation of the SCD and why it works (no research and quite illogical, IMHO), and yet I've seen quite a few people on the diet who report huge improvements in colitis/crohn's symptoms.
