Hi All,

Today is my Metho day....I'm at 7 increasing to 8 next week. Today for the

first time, I've experienced some symptoms from them I think. I don't really

count being nauseous because lots of things make me feel that way. However,

I took 2 at 8:30, I was fine, 2 at 1:30 with lunch, got really tired by 4.

I got home by 445, and around 5:30 before I took my last 3, I broke out into

a sweat and almost passed out..i could hardly walk back from the kitchen to

my living room. I will call my RA Dr. tomorrow about this. I've also had

diarrhea today. I've just now taken my last 3 for the day as I feel better

now.

It's just kind of bizarre. Anyone else experience this?

Hi,

I'm sorry you had such a hard day. I take methotrexate and have not

experienced anything like that though I had to cut down on my doses as it was

affecting my liver enzymes. You could have a bug. I do think a call to the

doctor is

warranted.

I also wonder, if in the future you have a reaction like this, if you should

not take any more of the medicine until you speak to the doctor so that it

doesn't worsen a sickness. I guess I'd ask the doctor/nurse about that too.

Hope you continue to feel better.

Is it possible that you might be coming down with something? Anyone else

around you been sick? Are on other meds? Any changes in them?

I take all 7 of mine at night after a large dinner or right before

bed. Then I sleep on it :-) Now the only time I have an issue is if I

don't take them on schedule.

Hi...

I've been taking MTX for a year and a half, starting with the oral then going to

injections. It reduces inflammation and effects the immune system to slow or

stop the progressive nature of rheumatoid arthritis . It has side effects which

are different for everyone, I've found injections to be much more effective with

less side effects. Hope this helps

[ ] methotrexate question

Hi all:

I haven't posted much on this list, but I'm hoping someone can help me.

My rheumy has told me now that it's a matter of when I go on methotrexate , not

a matter of if anymore.  I am currently on Plaquenil , and use Tylenol

Arthritis to help.

What I want to know is what exactly is the methotrexate supposed to do?  Does

it decrease the pain and stiffness?  Decrease the fatigue?  Why would I agree

to take it?

Thanks for any answers!

Your Rheumy is right! You need to go on MTX to stop destruction of joints

being targeted by the RA and will help with stiffness and pain when dosed

right. You are paying a lot to see this specialist, the Rheumy, and should

at least listen to his advice. I've been taking MTX since 1990 and haven't

had any problems with it, and I'm giving myself a 1 cc injection each week.

My advice is that you need to try it before getting your back up against a

med offered to you. That's what I'd do...
