Subject: Question on red meat

Hello guys,

I was looking for a source that classifies what meats are considered red. Does

anybody know of one? Can you confirm if they are beef, pork, veal and lamb?

Anything else? Thank you!

I would think those are too, Merav. Thank you.

Changing subjects, I just noticed what you have under your name: “A Dietitian,

not the food policeâ€. People at my work don’t like to eat around me. I’m

the

only Dietitian here and I send weekly messages (by my boss’ request) to

everyone

with healthy eating tips. Now, when I enter the kitchen people feel like I’m

the

food police, and they make comments to that nature. I don’t like that. I’m

not

judgmental at all about people’s choices. I do eat healthy most of the time

and

I guess that bothers people, apparently. I’m not sure if you guys experience

that…

Yesterday, I had a patient tell me that I don’t understand how hard it is to

loose weight because I’m skinny. I told her, it is hard work for me to

maintain

my weight too. If I let go I’d for sure gain weight. All I’m doing is

practice

what I preach.

But police can be very professional but tough when they need to be and used

to all the excuses :-) Not a bad description for a dietitian...

No wonder - your boss request made you the food police. Order Pizza for the

next staff meeting and make sure everybody sees you eat 2 (!!) slices and make

sure you stay long enough for them see you dont run to throw up in the

toilet.and if anyone will comment on that ( " you eat pizza " ?) - let then know

that 2 slices of pizza once in a while is definitely a part of a healthy diet.I

refuse to be the food police. Also people don't like to get health tips when

they don't ask for it. It is true for many advices. I don't give any unless I am

asked.Maybe you should cut the massages down to once a month or just before the

holidays, when ppl want to try to avoid overeating (and not always being

successful).

... I am surprised. When was the last time we looked at our cops as admired

tough professionals? If I recall correctly it was on Sep 11 2001, when they

(rightfully) earned their stripes as NY Finest. Usually, we are not big fans of

them (till we need them, I know, G-d forbid we REALLY need them). Most of the

countries have bad jokes and not so great nick names for their cops. Its true

for UK, Israel and the US. I am sure other countries as well.

me too, me too. read what I said, but on day to day, when we (thanks G-d) don't

need them, we, as a society, don't admire them (And I am sorry for anyone, maybe

you, who knows police officers as personal friends/spouse/family members).I

respect whet they do and know our society would be in a chaos without them, but

as a society, they dont get the day to day respect. That's how, unfortunately,

things are.regardless - being the police is great. being the food police - not

so. At least for me. I don't like it. Don't like to monitor every bit of mine

and don't like to monitor every bite others are eating. I hate it even more when

ppl are monitoring my intake when I eat my medium-rare Porterhouse. I think this

is not what our profession is about, but we, as always, can agree to

disagree.Love you . Always did, always will.

Well, I get a lot of positive feedback from my weekly messages, and I have fun

writing them. I guess the ones that don’t like them can simply hit the delete

button, don’t you think?

As far as eating something not as healthy occasionally, the other day I accepted

a piece of chocolate cake they offered me at the kitchen, but obviously is what

I do most of the time that is more evident. Some coworkers come to me and say

that they do admire how I eat and take care of myself though. I do enjoy eating

healthy and I think people need to respect that too. I don’t push that people

eat like I do.

People can be food police to us Dietitians too. Have you ever had anybody saying

to you when you are at a party eating a piece of cake: “do you eat that?†I

have. Sometimes, I think they pay attention to what we eat even more than we pay

attention to what they eat.

Maggie, I think we all live with either the stigma of being skinny, or being

fat. I’ve been where you are now, and I don’t know if there’s one easy

solution – or even a hard solution…

But it’s a great question, and maybe we need to brainstorm and share ideas of

how to eliminate this stigma, among many others.

I HATE them when they chase me on the freeway and hand me that yellow slip.

They're doing their jobs. I'm trying to get to mine.

But, if I am robbed, hit and run, or any other crime is committed against

me, when they come to my help I adore them.

That's just the way it is.

I’ve never had anyone ask that question of me “do you eat that? (cake). I

don’t like cake. GIVE ME A BACK OF CHIPS!!!! PLAIN OL’E SALTY GREASY CHIPS!

With a cold beer and a bowl of hot salsa.

Seriously, I’ve had that question asked of me the once a month that I indulge

in a bag of chips with salt and black pepper.

Subject: Question on red meat

Hello guys,

I was looking for a source that classifies what meats are considered red. Does

anybody know of one? Can you confirm if they are beef, pork, veal and lamb?

Anything else? Thank you!
