Her choice IMHO - the irony was that her hubby left her for a younger woman.

I wonder if she does Sports nutrition as an RD. I guess I am more interested

in her job situation as an RD.

Oh, I have nothing against being majorly stacked with ripped abs, trust me,

in my day back in the dark ages and my good years, I flaunted all the skin I

could w/o being arrested. And yes!my middle daughter banned me from her

elementary school during the hot pants and hip hugger years. No kidding.

My main concern is that we cannot project the image that silicone, botox and

17% body fat are the marker of beauty and health no matter what the age, bc

many women will never reach that marker then become totally screwed up

striving for the unachievable goals.

If we are to promote health and wellbeing are possible through diet and

exercise in a normal way, then that's what we should do. I want to be

respected for my brain, although I would love to be lusted after for my

looks (were I still 17....). Not sure if this explains my rationale or

opinion on this topic. I don't want to offend this lady who obviously has

worked very hard and against many odds such as being now near middle age (an

age I'd love to return to needless to say) bc what she'd done is

commendable. But she takes the credit for that and I don't want that credit.

Oh wow! That's sad.

I know it's her choice. It's all our choices what we do but not always how

we look w/o help. What's the job situation? That I didn't read about.

I just have to interject in this conversation. First, this picture of her is

taken as her " cheerleader " image, not her " dietitian " image. I am sure in the

cheerleading world there is a lot of pressure to be ultra thin and ripped (as

she is). Cheerleading is something she enjoys....they do not get paid much to

do this. The story (as I read it) really revolves around a 42 year old woman

who still fits into a very competitive social circle of women much younger than

herself and not the fact that she is a dietitian. We are always looking toward

something that could shed positive light and focus to our profession. The fact

that she has worked hard enough to continue her hobby as a cheerleader at her

age should be commended. Do we think all dietitians should look like

her.....no, should the average woman look like her....no but really, she is not

an " average " woman. We don't know anything about her other than what this

article states......

On another note - if a Dietitian is obese they are criticized too and we all

know great overweight Dietitians.

Wow....must we be soooo critical of one of our own? We know nothing about this

woman other than than what the article says: that she is a 42 year old

cheerleader/dietitian and what she looks like. Yet here we all sit criticizing

her on her appearace alone! I think she looks great! And like one of the other

gals wrote...this is her cheerleader outfit, I doubt she would walk into a

clinical/hospital setting wearing a cheerleading outfit or vice versa...wear a

business suit onto the football field to cheer in. Just my two cents....

Oh goodness and go ahead anyone....skewer me what I'm about to say. So what???

Have you seen any of the recent RD eligible grads? Obviously not. Many are young

and beautiful, thin and guess what? some have BOOB jobs. That's right!!! So are

we going to deny them jobs because they look great?

I'm sorry should probably sit on this before I hit send but has sent us a

story - something that just MAY help our profession get over the Debbie

Dietitian, lunch lady, food police, whatever it is that has held our profession

back. It certainly won't hurt our exposure. How often do we whine about

" nutritionists " out there taking over our profession.

I don't know anything about the story but thank you for sending.

You’re all so right in chastising those of us that have written critically of

this unfortunate woman who happens to be good looking, has spent time working at

her figure and herself, and been able to compete with the younger cheerleaders.

My heart doesn’t bleed for her for that, but it was catty of me to say

anything about her perceived bodily enhancements. I’m showing my age, I

guess.

However, my comment was trying to point out that we continue to idolize the very

thin women with mega boobs, and for young females this is not a healthy image,

given the EDs we’re facing these days. That’s really what I should have said

but hey, we all have our moments and that was mine.

Personally I have a 44 y.o. daughter that looks as good or better, and she works

for her plastic surgeon, but isn’t a cheer leader, just very intense and

concerned with her looks.
