Dear Friends,

This is to announce that " AIDS India 2007: A Regional AIDS Workshop- Symposium

to enhance Research Capacity " will be held in Jawaharlal Nehru Center for

Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, India from July 9th to 13th.

The focus of the meeting is AIDS research training and consists of (i) a 3-day

laboratory hands-on workshop including HIV virological and immunological

techniques and TB diagnostics; (ii) A 1-Day Round Table workshop on Behavioral,

Epidemiological and Ethical aspects of AIDS research and (iii) 1-Day Symposium

on Clinical and Basic AIDS research as well as a minisymposium on XDR TB:

Treatment, Diagnostics and Epidemiology.

The meeting is aimed at trainees from India, Rwanda and Bangladesh

(as well as those from any of the SAARC countries) and is jointly

organized by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM)'s AIDS

International Training and Research program, the Einstein/MMC Center

for AIDS Research and the JNCASR, Bangalore.

How to apply:

Participants must be actively involved in the AIDS research.

Applications must include:

Complete curriculum vitae on NIH 2 page Biosketch format a 1-page

description of personal goals for AIDS prevention research in their

home countries (India, Rwanda, Bangladesh or other SAARC countires)

detailing how participation in this workshop will aid in fulfilling

those goals. Priority will be for applicants who are part of an

ongoing research effort and those with significant experience and/or

potential for AIDS prevention research in the above countries.

Please submit a one-page abstract of your current or completed AIDS research

project, which should include a title, name of your mentor/supervisor and the

institution where the research was carried out.

This abstract will be used to consider all applicants for an oral presentation

in the mini-symposium. Please send your complete application by email to

aitrp@... with a copy to udaykumar@... before April 15, 2007.

Selections will be made before May 31st 2007.
