Guest guest
We had some bad ones in the mid 80's. I remember they were burning in California and on the Western Slope, but we could see the smoke come pouring over the Rockies into Denver... Hope they get them under control soon... -dz- WILLIAM A WALTKE <kbwaltke@...> wrote: I am here in the back row I just snuck in. Have you all heard about all the fires going on in my state of Colorad. Guest guest
Due to high winds and low humidity Denver is under health alert from all the smoke. Its awful the one fire is swallowing up over 500 acres every half hour to hour and over 500 homes lost so far that is just one of the 4 that burning out of control. Our govenor has come on tv several times saying do not light that cigarette do not start a campfire. We are burning. Denver looks like its on fire with all the smoke but we were up in the mountains at our sons this weekend He was over an hour and a halfs drive from the fire at one point now they are talking about evacuating his town. Its awful. And my daughter in law has asthma so this is serious health risk to those with COPD of anykind. Its scarey. And the winds are up and its hot and dry again today. I am here in the back row I just snuck in. Have you all heardabout all the fires going on in my state of Colorad. Its awfulI don't think I have ever seen it this bad. Guest guest
Fluffy, we have already had 2 bad fires down here already. One up by Flagstaff and one about 100 miles south of Phoenix. They have closed over 60% os the state & US camp grounds here do to the FIRE danger. The rest have a ban on all open fire's "camp fire's & Bar-B-Q's". You can use camp stoves & gas grills. This is the first time in 30 years they have shut down the camp grounds. For the last five years we have only had 1/2 of our normal rain fall. Then after Memorial day weekend, they reported that they ticketed over 250 people for camping in closed camp grounds & Having camp fire's. The paper said they found one person who started his camp fire with the sign saying NO OPEN FIRES. Then they found another who threw his lit butt out of his window. No they have closed down one highway US 89A. Unless you live on & off of it you can't drive down it. Terry WILLIAM A WALTKE <kbwaltke@...> wrote: I am here in the back row I just snuck in. Guest guest
I guess we should be grateful for the 3 inches of rain we've had in the past couple of weeks... -dz- Terry Long <pawpawto3@...> wrote: Fluffy, we have already had 2 bad fires down here already. Guest guest
I'm sure that is VERY scarey. Is the fire east or west of Denver? We went to Lake Dillon a few years ago. What a beautiful area. I hope they put them out soon and everyone is safe. Sharon __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi I'll be praying that they will be able to get these fires under control soon. I know how bad the smoke can get. We were under the same kind of health alert a few years back when farmers in southern Mexico were burning off their land for the planting season. Our air was filled with smoke for a few weeks. Guest guest
The fires are west just out of Denver mostly. A couple of them are more to the western slopes. But the Hayman fire is now so out of control they have it moving towards Denver rapidly. They have evacuated Roxborough park..... that is County in the very low foothills south east Metro suberb area of the City of Denver. Hugs > I'm sure that is VERY scarey. Guest guest
Dear Lori - Personally, I've found your posts to be informative and helpful. Your concept and followthrough for the brochure was inspiring. Some would say that in a perfect world we'd all agree with each other, but that's Utopia. I find that a variety of opinions can spark even more insight to this frustrating condition. Sometimes illness or meds (such as Prednisone) can cause tempers to flash. But I think ALL opinions and information can have validity. Please don't leave the group. It would be a loss for all of us. Mona (on a farm near Toronto) At 04:25 AM 2004/03/16, you wrote: I'm going to leave the group for now and go to no mail. If any one wants to write to me directly as always you are welcome to do so. I will continue to check in from time to time on the posts but will not be responding within the context of the group. Also anyone interested further in helping with the brochure and/or the foundation as always please let me know. Lori in NY
