Not my intent to sound disrespectful, but wouldn't this depend on the size

of the leaves, the cooking variances based on personal preference?

It depends on the size of the leaves, are you also using the stalks. I usually

take the bunch about 6-8 leaves, cut off the green part that will be about a

scant cup cooked. I take the stalks because they take longer to cook and cook

them with onions for an omelet or stir fry. If I make a quiche I saute my onions

and stalks steam the leafy part then use both as my vegetable filler. Kale is

the same way the leafy part cooks faster then the stems.

The leaves are usually pretty large. I'll figure out the information I am

looking for by cooking the leaves based on the recipe I am using. This question

can be disregarded now. Thanks.

Thanks, Jackie. I will be using the stems as well. I am going to saute them to

see what cooks down to 1/2 cup. I like your idea of using the stalks in an

omelet or stir fry. I may try that another time!

Although I never would eat only half a cup of chard, I imagine at least one

full cup or more. At least the way I make it, Southern style, it cooks down

by over half.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how many leaves of Swiss Chard would cook down to about

1/2 cup? I am guessing 2-3 leaves, but I can't find the information

anywhere. Thanks!
