Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I had my appointment yesterday with my Rheumatologist to discuss treatment for my RA. She is having me start methotrexate (6 pills once a week) along with 1 mg of folic acid everyday for the next four weeks. Then I go back to her and if I'm doing ok on the methotrexate she will add plaquenil. She didn't want to start me on both together in case I had an allergic reaction, she wouldn't know which drug caused it. She said I should start feeling better around week 3 of the methotrexate. I'm planning on starting the pills this Thursday. I hope they don't make me sick! She also prescribed pain meds to take at night and in the morning which is when I have the most pain. She did not want me to take prednisone because it would cause my diabetes to be harder to control. She also did not prescribe NSAIDS at this time. Is that uncommom? I always assumed that NSAIDS were part of the overall treatment. Jodie
