Guest guest
Hi , my office was talking about a study that found reduced symptoms in MS patients who were given parasitic worms. The thinking was that the immune system has gotten bored as hygiene has improved. As a result, a bored immune system starts attacking the body. If you keep it busy with parasites it leaves the important stuff alone. Did you come across that anywhere? My first thought was, yikes, I don't know if I could do the parasitic worm thing. I might need a universe of xanax! ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ You rock. Guest guest
Kate, I have read some articles about this, but I'm not sure what to make of it. The hygiene hypothesis is interesting, but hasn't won me over yet. I hope some larger studies are being or will be done. http://www.boston.com/news/science/articles/2007/12/31/his_parasite_theory_s tirs_a_revolution/ http://www.bioedonline.org/news/news.cfm?art=3061 http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1618732 Not an MD > Re: [ ] RESEARCH - for - parasitic worms? > > Hi , my office was talking about a study that found reduced symptoms in MS > patients who were given parasitic worms.
