Guest guest
Hi There is no standard dose of Minocin. Each person needs to decide what dose best suits them as an individual. I would advise starting off on 100mg MWF and see how you feel. Some people are ultra sensitive and even find this dose too high to begin with. Whatever dose you decide to start off on, you need to increase slowly to avoid a Herx reaction. I eventually managed to increase to 200mg every day which is the dose used in the trials. But many people in this group only take it MWF. However, many of them also supplement with additional IV's. Hope this helps Lindy (UK)
Guest guest
Hi, -Sally in Little Rock here. I have RA and have been doing 100 mg mino, 2x day, plus Zithromax (azithromycin, another antibiotic) 500 mg, 2 x wkly. When I first started, I had a terrible time acclimating. Got dizzy and sick, and according to a study on scleroderma pts on mino, us women had a much tougher time, but once we got used to it (1-2 mos), we do fine. That is the case for me. I'm doing GREAT now-don't have any side effects from it at all and it has helped my RA, immensely. So I saw where someone told you to work up to full dosage gradually. It took me 2 mos to get to the full dosage and w/in 1 month of taking 100 mg, bid, of mino (I did not have problems with the Zithromax) I could drive again!! It had been probably 2 years since I could trust my hands not to flare terribly if they were even well enough for me to get into a car and turn the key and grip the wheel. Further, I had been on Doxycycline since '99-my rheumy (who I fired:), would not switch me to Mino so I went to Dr Mirkin (in the DC area). So, hang in there, , it's worth it! Sally in Little Rock, ARK rheumatic Minocycline dosage > Hi- > I'm just wondering what the generally used mino dosage is. My doctor (who doesn't really know much about the AP) prescribed 100mg 2x a day, which is way too much for me. I got dizzy and felt sick. I know that some people suggest 100mg 1x MWF - I'm trying to figure out what will work the best and I'm confused! My RA is very mild, it only affects my knees. Anybody have any suggestions? > > Thanks!!! > - > > >
Guest guest
I know some of you are on minocycline. I was wondering what dose you are on and how long it took before you felt a difference. Thanks marla
