Guest guest
, I NEVER use auto-pay or withdrawals or deductions. Either I write the check and mail it, or activate the payment through my bank or the company's website. But never ever do I allow an automatic deduction to be made. I think for the little bit of extra trouble, it's worth it to have the control over your money. Sorry this happened to you. Fight it. I found the same exact coverage through Ameriprise for considerably less. Liberty tried to reduce my premium, but were not able to. I have had the Liberty amount paid through automatic withdrawal for years. When I told them to cancel it, they informed me that they had not yet billed me for $309, AFTER telling me they would credit the payment that had already been made for that month, so that I would only pay for a partial month. So, the $309 was some out of the blue amount they had not yet charged me for. They then sent me a bill for the $309. I called and asked for clarification and the guy told me I now had a " zero balance " . I asked him to double check it and he did. I asked him to send me that in writing. When I received it, the $309 was back on the statement. I called back and spoke to two other people about it and got two different answers. Both told me the previous person was mistaken, including the " zero balance " answer. You might want shop around before assuming Liberty Mutual is the best option. And, if you want to cancel with Liberty, be prepared for an unexpected expense! W. Guest guest
I use auto payment extensively with no problems. Liberty Mutual did not and could not take the $309.90 automatically. I had not approved anything but the monthly amount. I have not paid them that amount yet and may not do so.
