Guest guest
Hi Everyone, had his *yearly* Cardiology appointment today. We've been on yearly visits for about 3 years now. I was a little leery about it but went along with it since we also see the Pedi and other doctors pretty frequently. However, has been having really cold feet syndrome! LOL. He will climb into bed and ask to snuggle. When I let him, it is like having ice cubes against my legs. When we went to the Cardiologist today, she said that it was pumping issues (circulation) and that the blood flow to his extremities will slow down to make it easier for the heart to pump. has Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Pulmonary Atresia (PA), and Complete AV Canal. The Fontan procedure pretty much redirected his blood flow to go thru the pulmonary artery. As Matt put it, his blood flow is a circle instead of an 8! Figure that one out, I think I get it but it still confuses me. So anyway, his blood pressure was 127/75 and 107/85. The doctor felt that it was on the high side of normal. So she wants to start him on a medication which is an ace (sp?) inhibitor, I think it's called inalipril (sp?). Anyone have any experience with this? Any advice? Guest guest
Janet, My daughter, Jillyan (now almost 9 mos old) was put on this drug immediately following her heart surgery in June when she was just 3 weeks old. She had a choarctation of the aorta repair. The reason they gave it to her was she had experienced high blood pressure (pressures very similar to 's) immediately after surgery and her pressures were high until our October visit -- at that time the enalapril (or Vasotec) was stopped. Basically, the pharmacist took 20 enalapril tablets -- commonly taken by adults for high blood pressure -- crushed them and mixed them with 2 sweeteners to make a liquid for Jilly to take. She was on a very low dosage (.15cc 2/day). She really had no side affects from the drug and tolerated it very well. Mixing it with the ora-plus and ora-sweet made it taste like sugar so we had absolutely no trouble with her swallowing the medication. Hope all goes well with .
