Guest guest
I'm sorry you didn't have a very productive visit! My NSAID recently changed to Mobic from Diclofenac due to the fact that I have a diagnosis of hepatitis. Apparently, Diclofenac is harder on the liver. Yet I think it was working better than the new NSAID. My doctor has me take prilosec or prevacid to help with any stomach upsets the medications may cause. At the hospital I am at, they aren't really treating my FMS anymore either. Due to the large numbers of people being diagnosed, and the fact that it is not curable, and there isn't any inflammation involved with it, many are starting to shift it to PCP's to treat. I've read many articles that its now considered to be more of a neurological disorder (since they have started identifying the brain chemical abnormalities) than it is a rheumatic. It's very frustrating though. The only thing I can do for mine is follow diet, physical therapy, relaxation, take flexeril, sleeping medication, and a pain med. Cymbalta worked well for a couple of years and then it affected my mood. I couldn't take Lyrica. So now we are doing Effexor XR which was used before Cymbalta was ever given for FMS. Unfortunately, even though it works on the same chemicals of the brain, it is not as effective for the pain. I wish you luck in finding a new doctor! I know how frustrating it is to feel ill and have to fight to find someone to treat the issues. rorasmom <rorasmom@...> wrote: Hi.. Hope everyone is doing ok.... I just wanted to let you know about my rhemey appt today..... went in, said all my test results came out fine.. no RA {thank goodness}just osteoarthritis in my knee gave me a shot in my knee.. He asked me if I have ever been on a NSAID before.. I said yes, Voltarin, but could not take it because of constent " poop cramps " {sorry for that, but thats what it is} He said oh, and put me on Lodine.. Now, I am not a dr., but isn't that like Voltarin? I looked it up and it has the exact same sight effects.. what is going on here! If I can't take one NSAID, then why would he be giving me something like it again? And he did not mention ONE WORD about my Fibro, I asked and asked, and he ignored me! I am so sick of it! I need to find someone in my area that treats fibro..... does anyone know of anyone in Ohio? Thanks for listening!
