Guest guest
Today, I am happy to report that my odd foot pain/inflammation that made walking impossible is gone, it's still tender when I touch to see how the swelling is doing. I've had 4 nurses and my rheumatologist call me today to check on it. I'm located 2.5 to 3 hours away from where I go for treatment. I'm a little stressed out now though about the itching. Even though yesterday I could not stop itching, it began to decrease with the benadryl that my family doctor advised taking when I spoke to him Sunday and he thought it was the Ultram ER causing it. Today I woke up, and am barely itching at all. I have some redness along my jaw and a little on my neck. I can feel tiny bumps, and the skin feels really tight and dry. The nurses wanted me to seek emergency care immediately or to call my family doctor for follow up. I've done this and am waiting for a call back. I'm concerned about this, since the itching is gone except for that tiny area. I'm not sure if maybe they misunderstood and thought the rash was increasing or getting worse? The Ultram ER should be out of my system by now, since the 24 hours have passed, I would think, and I'm not feeling odd. But now they have me quite panicky. I've read some posts from some of you who have developed an allergic reaction to painkillers or other medications you have been on. I was wondering what treatment options you were given? My family doctor didn't seem all that worried. Just wanted me to call him today and to keep the benadryl going.
Guest guest
I'm glad you're feeling better ! New/unexpected symptoms drive me nuts! Especially since they seem to occur with such frequency with RA. I've had the itching with both dmards and after stopping the meds it resolved. I think the biggest fear with itching as an allergic reaction is that it will develop into s- Syndrome which can be very serious. But if yours is going away then it's not likely to be the problem. (altho, as always reminds us...I'm not a doctor :-)) Kim > > Today, I am happy to report that my odd foot pain/inflammation that made walking impossible is gone, it's still tender when I touch to see how the swelling is doing. Guest guest
Thank you so much Kim My face and neck are still itchy and a little red. Benadryl seems to help some. My family doctor advised I should continue antihistamines for a few days. That was one of my biggest fears with itching-I kept thinking Anaphylactic shock. Especially since I have wheezing, chest congestion, congestion, all from my upper respiratory infection, lightheadedness, and anxiety all listed symptoms. I think though since its just the jaw line now and not the whole body, I'm hoping its too late to turn into something like that. just call me Sheba <queen_o_sheba@...> wrote: I'm glad you're feeling better !
