Guest guest
I can't remember if it was a film I watched or a book I read but I recall reading about how difficult it was for farmers/manufacturers to keep lettuce and spinach from wilting during shipping and with much effort in trying all sorts of things the end result was some type of modification (chemical) of the plastic containers/wrappers. I am sorry for such a vague idea but perhaps it has to do with the chemical they ended up using in the production of the plastic?! If I think of my source I will send it on. Guest guest
It probably is something in the plastic. Have you ever put bread in its original plastic bag in the freezer? After some time, the bread tastes more like plastic than bread. Plastic, I believe, gives off gases that influence the flavor. Just as a heads-up. If you do want to freeze bread, put it in a paper bag first and then in the plastic bag. It gives a layer of protection both from frostbite but also flavor changes.
